The Nourish&Flourish Project

A message from the founder: McKenna Garrison

I created this project while working and finishing up my senior year of college all from home on my laptop. The stress and anxiety of all my plans for the future coming to a screeching halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic was truly weighing on me. As someone working in the early childhood education field, I am no stranger to the importance of self-care. I know that now, more than ever, I need to nourish my mind, body, and soul before I can return to caring for young children. With an upcoming assignment in one of my classes prompting students to lead a workshop for fellow educators, I felt compelled to use that opportunity to share this mission with my peers. That is why I decided to create The Nourish&Flourish Project.

We are living in a time of uncertainty and stress. Many people find themselves isolated at home, unsure of what to do, how to care for themselves, and how to move forward. Some are taking this time to pick up new hobbies, focus on physical health, or choose physical distancing over social distancing by taking advantage of virtual platforms.

Whether you are doing all of these things, or none of them, I created The Nourish&Flourish Project to remind you that it's okay either way.

In order to flourish, you first have to nourish your well-being. Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your mental and physical health is nothing at all. You do not need to come out of this in the best shape of your life with an abundance of new skills in order to reenter society. Self-care can be as complex as writing a novel or as simple as breathing. Again, it's okay either way.

The Nourish&Flourish Project is here to offer inspiration that may help guide you on your self-care journey, what ever that may look like.
